The Liberty Theater in Camas WA Closes it doors for the Final time.The theater was built in 1927 and was completely restored in 1996. The interior of the theater had 350 seats with a balcony! Included with the renovation was a state-of-the-art projector which delivered a bright picture and a new Dolby Digital sound system with over 20 speakers. In August of 1999 they added a smaller second screen. Movies played on the main screen first (1-2 weeks), and then moved over to the smaller one. The Liberty Theater had been supporting the Camas/Washougal community for 82 years. And now it's gone. Movie Patrons will now have to go to Portland, OR (a whole other State) or Vancouver WA about 10 miles to the North, to see movies at The Big Expensive $9.00 to $10.00 a seat Regal Cinemas.Vancouver also has The Old Vancouver Plaza Theater which for now shows movies everyday for $3.00. http://www.fandango.com/regalvancouverplaza10cinema_aaaqf/theaterpage (http://www.fandango.com/regalvancouverplaza10cinema_aaaqf/theaterpage) From what i heard, The Liberty Theater Owner who was Leasing the building, wanted to Buy it and was told No, so he Closed up and said GoodBye.It stood for 82 years And as usual it all came down to Money & Greed----SadIt was the Center of Camas and is going to put a Big Hurt on most businesses, especially Restarants, People would come for a Movie and then Dinner or Vise Versa.It was a Theater Full of Character with 2 screens, the one pictured below and a second smaller theater with aprox 30 to 50 seats. And a $6.00 Ticket PriceIf you look at the Top picture below, there is a door on the Right Side, that is the second theater. It is about 6 Seats Wide and 10 Rows back, or from the front of the building to the doors.Another Movie Landmark bites the Big One.Thank Goodness for Backyards

First Friday Art Walk in downton Camas, WA

will be featuring some of our latest jewelry pieces hand picked by me and my business partner Sherrie. We will be having our booth in front of our friends at La Claudio Wear at 334 NE 4th Ave in Camas. Come 0n out and have some fun.

Downtown Camas offers many events and gatherings throughout the year. "Camas First Fridays" occur throughout the year on each first Friday of the month. Art exhibits featuring local artists, dining, and themed shopping events that provide fun for all are part of each First Friday line-up. In July, the theme is "Rock 'n' Roll Night" which includes a cruise-in with classic and specialty cars along the streets of downtown with Rock 'n' Roll music on the streets and in the downtown stores. The First Friday in August brings the "Camas Art and Music LIVE!" theme with fine art and local musicians throughout downtown. December's event is "Hometown Holidays" with a community tree lighting ceremony, beautifully lit decorations along our main street (4th Ave.), caroling, Santa, and boutique shopping events.

First Friday - October 2nd
Artwalk, Dining, and After Hours Shopping 5-8pm: "Pumpkin Pageant". Join the fun of judging pumpkins in every shop. Drawings are held for prizes.

First Friday - November 6th
Artwalk, Dining, and After Hours Shopping 5-8pm: "Favorite Recipes". This is a night your stomach will enjoy as you sample bites of some of the favorite recipes of downtown Camas.

First Friday - December 4th
Artwalk, Dining, and After Hours Shopping 5-8pm: "Hometown Holidays". Caroling, tree-lighting, and specials in every store. Shop locally this holiday.
